HKBN Seminar: HK and the AI opportunity

HSBC has most kindly agreed to host the next HK Business Network seminar which will be on the topic of AI and how HK is well placed to take advantage of its differentiating position under the one country, two systems framework.

We are truly privileged to have two top HK-based serial tech entrepreneurs and investors in AI and start-ups, Esther Wong and Doug Glen confirmed as speakers, who will be joined by Gartner Research Fellow, Dave Aron.

Dave Aron

Dave Aron is a Gartner Research Fellow. He is a thought leader on digital business strategy and helping Boards and CxOs understand and engage with advanced business and technology topics such as the opportunities and risks of Generative and Agentic Artificial Intelligence, the rise of Mis-, Dis- and Mal-information, Antifragility and Simplification. Dave holds an MBA from London Business School, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Queen Mary College London. He has taught business and IT topics at a number of business schools, including London Business School, Oxford University's Said Business School and Henley Business School, and has written two books, including "The Essence of Strategy", and will publish a third, “The World Without Truth”, with Gartner colleagues later this year.

Doug Glen

Doug is Chief Strategy Officer and Board Member at Hanson Robotics, renowned for developing the humanoid robot Sophia. After graduating from MIT, his multi-decade and varied career, across the media, entertainment, robotics, and cybersecurity sectors, has given him incredible insight into not just the accelerating technological advances but also how businesses operate, leading him to be actively involved in the startup ecosystem as a mentor and investor.  He is also a Principal at the Hong Kong Tech Incubator and a mentor at the Founder Institute Hong Kong, supporting early-stage entrepreneurs.

Esther Wong

Esther was one of the founding members of SenseTime, one of China's largest AI software companies. Successfully raising over USD 5 billion, she played a pivotal role in implementing AI applications across a full range of industries, including robotics, education, and healthcare. She has subsequently founded and is CEO of 3Capital Investment, a venture capital firm with a focus on AI-driven global opportunities. Previously Esther held leadership positions at notable financial institutions such as Cazenove (now part of J.P. Morgan), CICC, Barclays, and Bocom.
